Silver Ribbon Ambassador, Brian Kelly, of Orland Park, Illinois, has collected over 42,000 letters of support. Brian sustained a traumatic brain injury in 2002. He became involved with the Silver Ribbon Campaign for the Brain after his night nurse left a Silver Ribbon at his bedside. Seen here with Senator Edward Kennedy, Brian has visited Washington, D.C. to lobby for the stamp. Senator Kennedy supports the proposed Silver Ribbon Brain Disorders and Disabilities Awareness First Class Postage Stamp, and has written to the Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee urging its issuance.
Thanks to each and every one of you who wrote letters of support to the Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee. We have new instructions to send the letters to Executive Director, David E. Failor. We need:
-
Letters of support from brain-related organizations
-
Letters of support from the public
Unfortunately, the Silver Ribbon was not approved for the 2007 postage stamp, instead it went to Jury Duty Awareness. We continue to stand strong in our commitment to achieve the longed-for, important stamp. Keep encouraging people and organizations to send letters in support of the Silver Ribbon Brain Disorders and Disabilities Awareness First Class Postage Stamp!
