A Beautiful Mind Wins Best Picture
 

Director Ron Howard accepts his Best Director Oscar at the Academy Awards on Sunday, March 24, 2002 for "A Beautiful Mind", and makes a statement by wearing the Silver Ribbon.  Based on the life of Nobel laureate John Nash, a brilliant man who developed schizophrenia, "A Beautiful Mind" also won Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress (Jennifer Connelly), Best Picture (Brian Grazer and Ron Howard), and Best Screenplay/Adaptation (Akiva Goldsman).  The screenplay was adapted from the book of the same name by Sylvia Nasar.
